Partial Palmyra Mow

I started to mow, but it started to rain.

Electric mowers are great, but they don’t do well in the rain.

  1. Electricity and water don’t mix.  My earliest experience with electric lawn mowers involved extension cords. It was also before Ground Fault Circuit Interruptors.   Although a little rain won’t hurt a battery powered mower, a lot of rain could risk a short circuit.
  2. Wet grass will clog a mower. The Black and Decker CM1936 will use a lot of battery power trying to mow wet grass.
  3. Leaves don’t mulch well when they are wet.

All in all, the mowing can wait for another day.

Trenton mow

It has been dry (no rain) for almost two weeks here in Trenton, but the grass is still green and it grew considerably.  The mower is still at a height of 3 1/2 inches.

The scalped area still has some bald spots, but hopefully they will fill in in a cool and wet fall.

I used the battery that came with the mower and has no power gauge.

Trenton Mow

Regular mow today.  The grass had grown, but not as much as before it got hot and dry.

Cut to 3 1/2 inches.

Was 4 1/2 in the front.

An inch where my neighbor mowed my property.

New blades struggling to grow.

The finished lawn at 3 1/2 inches.

Normally I would point to my neighbor’s scalped lawn in comparison to mine, but this time, the scalped lawn includes my property.

Back yard at 3 1/2 inches.

Only grew a half inch from last week.

Battery was above 50% after mowing.

Watering the scalped lawn.

Small can to measure the water depth.  Looking for at least an inch.
